Exceptionally well-presented collection covering a very wide range of subjects and art forms, in a delightful and eminently suitable building. Friendly, helpful staff. Handy central location for visitors to Bath. Should be one of the top 5 Bath attractions if it isn't already. We, aged from 7 to 70, all enjoyed our visit immensely and will re-visit whenever in the area.

Competition Entry. Great show. Thanks.

Both these photos were just taken really spontaneously and it just happened that I had my camera with me at the time. I could not have prepared for these photos, which I think adds to their charm because they just capture a single moment and the expressions on the people's faces at that exact time.

Life

Don McCullin - Excellent exhibition

Photographs of people and their pets

I loved having a look through the exhibition of Don Mc Cullin, his images are so inspiring. I loved how the black and white of the image brought out so much emotion without the use of colour!

These are all photographs which I believe show the differences in people's behaviour within an environment. From concentration, contemplation, enjoyment to mere sillyness...

Protests in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

This is a portrait of a series on women living alone

Life in Bath

Just a bunch of people, some fields and loneliness.

I really liked his work and i found it very inspiring. I found that they each told there own story and that they gave me a whole new perspective to looking at images. I really felt that each image was taken from the heart and imagined them like they were personal which shows what exceptional photography it all was! I could never get board of looking at his images! I think the way they were presented in such a magnificent place helped as well as the room & Lighting from the room made the images stand out, I hope one day i can afford one of his outstanding images! He will always be a inspiration to me and as i am 16 i still have a long time to try and capture images in the way he did :)

I was inspired by the Don McCullin exhibition to enter some of my own pictures in the competition

the photograph captures our daily lives...

The taxi driver works his night shift in this empty neighborhood in Hong Kong.

In the third city 's Australia, Brisbane, the economic crisis has hit after years of frenetic urban expansion, increasing the number of homeless. In the center as in the periphery is always easier to meet people who have lost their homes, the work and sometimes even abandoned by their families. In most of them are aborigines who years ago had left the reservations to integrate into white society in the country, now for depression are addicted to drugs for the poor and victims of alcoholism.

The passing of super cyclonic storm Sidr caused an unprecedented swathe of death and destruction across Bangladesh. Sidr's cyclonic storm slammed the highly vulnerable low lying, densely populated coastal areas along the Bay of Bengal with heavy rain, intense winds of up to 200 miles/hr, and a massive storm surge. Sidr, a category 5 cyclone was possibly the strongest cyclone to hit the country ever. The human cost from Sidr numbered in the thousands, and the damage to homes, crops and livelihoods was extensive. The solidarity amongst local people and within the Red Cross (ICRC), Red Crescent Societies and several N.G.O. Refugee camps was also immense. People worked assiduously in order to identify the corpses massed in the communal ditches and to distribute goods of first necessity and medicines to the survivors, in an attempt to alleviate the suffering and avert a pandemic of disease.

These were some of my first pictures with film.

Eighteen hundred newborns die each year from unsafe deliveries in Paraguay, and at least 1,500 children lose their mother from preventable causes related to childbirth. This is just the beginning: the country is at the top of adolescent pregnancy in Latin America (along with countries such as Haiti), making this a critical stage in which 25% of deaths in children under 19 years are due to clandestine abortions . In addition, short-term consequences of deficiencies in the health system are fatal, and that more than 3,000 children under five die every year due to the lack of post-partum care, lack of vaccination and being part of the 80% that not receive breastfeeding.

People going about their business in three continents

None of us must ever forget those who gave their lives in any war.

2010

the photos in Don Mccullen:shaped by war were vry moving and brilliantly captured. Magnificent.

My three entries to the photographic competition were predominantly taken on a vintage crown graphic 5x4 camera. The way this camera and its Kodak lens renders a scene is truly unlike anything you can buy off the shelf today. It's a wonderful (and wonderfully slow) camera to take pictures with.
